Chapter Text
Hot sand grains dug into his back. The sun beamed down on him. Waves crashed against the shore.
It was peaceful.
Medkit decided to keep his eye closed, enjoying the strange dream he was having. Lying on a beach, only quiet ambiance filling his ears. It was a breath of fresh air, feeling finally at ease, even if only for a moment. He felt numb; tingly in a way that made the back of his head buzz and his body content.
Then he felt a stabbing sensation in his wrist.
He jolted up, cradling his left arm to his chest. Embedded into it was a metal, glowing, diamond-shaped implant. Medkit stared at it in confusion, and looked around. He was on a sandy beach next to a rippling ocean and a lush jungle. He was also in only cloth underwear, leaving him more confused than he was before.
"What the...?" He murmured, carefully standing. "Where- where am I?"
He had his horns, and he-
He had both of his eyes. Both of them. He blinked them one at a time, partially blinding himself from the bright sun. He was just in utter awe. His hands rushed to his face, feeling all over. He occasionally (and accidentally) touched his eye, but he didn't care. His eye was there, his scar was gone, and he could see properly.
He almost laughed at the absurdity. It shouldn't have been possible. But it was.
After Medkit was done crying (he will deny that he wasn't), he decided to see where he was and how to get home. Or at least somewhere familiar.
He saw the lush growth of trees and bushes, a long, stretched-out beach, and-
"HOLY SHIT-" He screeched, jumping out of the way of a triceratops and a pack of velociraptors battled it out. He was hyperventilating, back pressed against a rock and hands gripping the sand below. The Raptors were obviously winning, enemy blood staining their scales and feathers.
This wasn't possible. It shouldn't have been. It couldn't have been, and yet it was. These beasts- with horns just like Inphernals- were presumably myths, and even to someone who believed them, they died years upon years ago.
The triceratops quickly fell, and the Raptors indulged, wolfing down any flesh they could. Medkit was dead still, but he knew his snow-white skin and bright teal horns would be easily spotted.
And he was correct. A few of the Raptors took notice of him, and began circling and trilling. He didn't dare move.
Maybe if he did, the death would have been quicker.
Hot sand grains dug into his back. The sun beamed down on him. Waves crashed against the shore.
Wait. He's played these games before.
He sat up immediately, in a different spot on the beach. He looked around, seeing more jutting rocks and more... more fauna. Grounded birds and swimming fish, peaceful herbivores and tiny lizards.
Medkit was so astonished by this that he proceeded to vomit everything in his stomach, which wasn't a lot.
So it wasn't a dream. Not that he had thought of that earlier, but it would have been likely. Key words, would have. But how did he even come back? He... he died.
Medkit ended up just sitting on a rock, trying to process everything that was going on. He was on a beach, there were a lot of plants, and mythological creatures wandered around.
He was zoning out before something nudged against his foot. He shrieked and jolted, only noticing a Dodo bird.
While Medkit was in Blackrock, he was fascinated by the fossils located in dig sites. In his free time, he studied them as much as he could and made a theory that they were previous creatures that diverged and evolved into the animals they knew today. However, he couldn't ever prove that theory, especially against the argument of 'How did Inphernals get here?'.
Safe to say, he knew a lot about prehistoric animals. But he was certain that Dodo's and Triceratops weren't in the same time period.
"Strange..." He muttered, picking the Dodo up. It had light pink feathers and white undertones. The horns were hot pink. "That's not natural."
The Dodo squawked, startling Medkit into dropping it. It landed on the sand, but shook it off and kept nudging his foot. Medkit tried to kick it away, to little success.
It only took a few minutes before Medkit picked it up and started petting it in his lap.
"You remind me of someone," he huffed, almost fondly. "What do you think of the name 'Marshmallow'?"
It was horribly undignified, but it reminded Medkit of Sword. The boy's favorite treats were marshmallows, so much so that he'd dress up as one multiple times for Halloween.
Sword.
Medkit abruptly stood up, looking frantically around. What if Sword was here? Where was he? If Medkit could be mauled by raptors, who knows what happened to him?
So, Medkit picked up Marshmallow, and was on his way.
