   James doesn’t answer at first. Just looks at him. Really looks at him. Rain clings to his lashes, darkens the curls at his temples, trails down his throat like a secret.

   “I thought you’d come here,” James says finally. “You always run when something’s wrong.”

   Regulus stiffens. “I don’t—”
