Summary
Edward Teach, washed-up former lead singer of Blackbeard and the Queen Anne’s Revenge, wakes up one morning to find an alien standing in his living room. Humanity has been Columbus’ed by the life forms of the wider universe, and they want to see how we stack up.
Before he knows it, Ed is summoned to a far-off planet to complete in the Metagalactic Grand Prix. He and his band – or what’s left of them, anyway – are charged to perform a single song that will prove to the universe that human beings are sentient and capable of playing nicely with their galactic neighbors. If they place, humanity will be welcomed into a new, science fiction future. If they fail, the Earth gets nuked.
