    As serene night fell in Hateno Village, a baby girl was born to the highest ranking family in the village. An exhausted mother cradling her crying newborn to her chest to allow them to feed, and an enraged father expressing his disgust towards the birth of a girl instead of the boy he wanted to pass down his family’s legacy. The man would approach his wife and express his desire to hide the child's biological sex in lieu of keeping their reputation as the strongest family of warriors in their village.

    Without much of a choice, the baby’s mother hesitantly agreed, bestowing the name Link to her child.
