Summary
After Voldemort’s fall, the Ministry celebrates peace. But the rot beneath it spreads fast. War crimes fade into silence, and Harry Potter, exhausted by hero worship, turns his back on the world he saved. He had thought victory would mean freedom. Instead, it brought bureaucracy, exploitation, and the quiet cruelty of people eager to move on.
Haunted and hollowed, Harry withdraws. Right up until the moment he learns the Wizengamot’s final decree for the resurrected remnants of the Dark Lord: a body stitched together from gathered soul fragments and tossed into the deepest dungeon the Ministry could unearth for him.
Harry tells himself it’s only mercy to speak up in favor of this man. But mercy, like magic, has its own kind of gravity. What begins as duty becomes co-dependence. A dangerous bond shaped by guilt, obsession, and the unfamiliar tenderness of two men who should never have shared the same breath.
