Chapter Text
Cleo didn't know how they ended up here; sewing Legundo's arm back on. She just needed a doctor because Martyn decided to play with knives for some stupid reason and cut his arm with the butcher's knife! And now she's sitting next to Legundo who was holding his dismembered arm together as Cleo was doing the stitches, he's lucky that she has experience.
Once Cleo was done stitching Legundo's arm back on, she shot him a death-glare "Care to explain?" She snapped, her words laced with venom.
Legundo sighed, leaning into his couch "Do I have to? It's not like I lost any blood!" Legundo pointed out, was his plan to give Cleo a migrane?
Cleo pinched the bridge of her nose "Well, that's another thing you need to answer; when did you die and how did you become a... what do they call us; an... 'awakened'?" Cleo questioned, and she could tell from all of Legundo's other stitched-back body parts that he wasn't good at stitching himself up, luckily she was great with needles and thread.
Legundo paused, taking in a deep breath "I was in a war... it wasn't... uncommon... for boys my age, especially first-born sons, to be drafted into the military... and, well, we were sent on a mission to capture an enemy base... we were expected to all die out there on the field... most of us did; I was one of the lucky ones who was just shot through the heart." Legundo took a deep breath, regaining his composure before he continued "I don't remember how I regained my conscience, but I know that I wasn't with my troop. Anyways, you said 'us', care to allaberate?" Legundo finished, leveling Cleo with a glare that clearly said 'explain'.
Cleo was quiet for a bit, she guessed she could tell Legundo, after all he was a zombie like her... it was just weird, talking to another zombie "Well, just like you, I'm a zombie. I didn't die in any war or anything tragic. I don't even really remember how I died, but I've been one for a while. That's why I picked up farming, it gets boring when you have nothing to do for your whole un-dead life." Cleo chuckled, she really didn't remember much past year 60, it had been so long since she died... at least 100 years.
Legundo paused, as though questioning whether he should speak or not, before he could Shelby walked in carelessly, though stopped when she saw the two... or, well, Legundo's stitched-up arm. "I was here to say that Abolish tended to Martyn's wounds... but, I think that I have different questions now..." Shelby stared wide-eyed at Legundo's arm.
Cleo put up her facade of calmness, which meant that she was panicking "Legundo accidentally cut part of his arm off and I learned how to sew my dresses back together after so much farm work." Cleo prayed that Shelby would buy the obvious lie.
Shelby looked at Cleo with the most 'seriously?' expression she could muster "I'm not a surgeon, but I know that is not how that works." Shelby sighed, turning to Legundo who simply shrugged and held up his scalpel that noticeably didn't have blood on it "As the only one here who's too tired to lie to people who clearly aren't human or hunters. I'm a werewolf, which is why I sometimes sneak off at night. My dad wasn't killed by werewolves, he was killed by hunters." Shelby explained simply, looking at Cleo and Legundo, waiting for them to come clean.
Legundo put his scalpel down then pursed his lips, contemplating his next actions "Well, I'm a zombie... and I didn't accidentally cut part of my arm off." Legundo shrugged, looking away from the others in embarrassment.
Cleo blinked, looking at Legundo like he grew another head "You mean that you dismember yourself on purpose? Why, what's the point?" Cleo demanded, glaring at Legundo "I mean, I know that it doesn't hurt, but what if someone like Avid walks in, what then?" Cleo questioned, her tone softening just a bit.
Legundo paused, knowing that Avid would just barge in without even acknowledging his presence, nothing like the polite vampires that Legundo once dined with. "Well, I guess I never thought about that, I usually don't travel with others or stay in one place very long as I am an actual surgeon, just a travel surgeon." Legundo shrugged, he guessed that he'd cross that bridge when he came to it.
Shelby spoke up "Please, you two could easily convince Avid that Legundo accidentally dismembered himself, especially since Avid is only versed in vampires. He talked about someone he loved becoming a vampire and attacking him, but that reminds me more of your kind then vampires." Shelby chuckled and Cleo hated that the werewolf wasn't wrong, especially the ones who still don't have their consciencness back.
Legundo suddenly snapped his head up to look at Cleo "Wait, you mean that you don't purposely dismember yourself?"
