    Opal had never felt such rage. She grabbed the first object she could reach – a pewter candlestick on the table – and threw it in the knight’s direction with a scream. It sailed over his head and collided with the wall with a solid clang.

    “And now I see why.”

    “NOOO!”

    Opal wailed and II could’ve sworn he felt the stone walls of the chamber vibrate with the force of her anguish. The princess was openly weeping now, her fingers curled into fists tight enough to turn her fingers white.
