Chapter Text
“Uugghhh, that was the fourth audition this week Celine. Can we please just take a break?”
Mira fell back against the couch and Zoey flopped over her lap sideways. Celine stood in the doorway tense as usual.
“No Mira, hunters always come in threes. We need to find you and Zoey’s third member before your debut.”
Zoey’s voice came out muffeled against the couch cushions. “But won’t the honmoon just lead us to them? Like it led you to us?”
“Normally yes, the honmoon would have sent out a signal to alert the hunters of the new members and their locations. But for some reason I was only able to find you two. So it looks like we’ll be searching ourselves until we either find someone with a connection, or the honmoon alerts us to another hunter’s presence.”
Both girls let out a long groan from the couch. The audtions ran for 10 hours all day and included a wide range of applicants and performances. Mira and Zoey had to be there with Celine to see if the honmoon showed them anything. But just like the last month their efforts had been in vain.
The honmoon showed no signs of any special third member, not that the girls had much experience with it anyways. If anything it seemed bored by the whole thing. When Mira and Zoey did some practice routines with the potential recruits, the honmoon barely responded. At least when it was just the two of them performing the honmoon glowed and thrummed with their energy, happy feel them dance and sing with such a strong bond.
Celine felt the girl’s frustration, she really did. Its not like she wanted to spend all day watching groups of girls sing the same songs and dance the same choreo over and over again. But if the honmoon wouldnt give them sign of a hunter, then they would just have to find one themselves.
“What if… theres no third member. Like, maybe this generation its just me and Mira or whatever?”
“No Zoey. Hunters ALWAYS in threes, there HAS to be a third memebr for you somewhere. I know you’re both tired, I am as well. But if you ever want to create the golden honmoon, then we HAVE to keep looking.”
Celine’s tone left no room for argument, so Zoey just nodded her head. Celine rubbed her temples and let out a long tired sigh before heading up to her room.
“You two get some rest. We’ll take a day or two off from auditions, work on your training, and then try again later.”
“Yes Celine.” Mira and Zoey spoke at the same time, Zoey wished Celine a good night and she gave them a good night in return. After Celine’s door closed, Mira nuged Zoey who was still laying on top of her. “Come on baby bear, lets get you to bed.”
“Nooooo! Mira you promised that after auditions today we could watch my show. You PROMISED Mira.” Zoey rolled over on her back, reaching a hand up to poke at Mira’s face.
“You mean the turtle cartoon?”
“OF COURSE, I mean the ‘turtle cartoon’ god its like you dont even know me Mir.”
Mira let out a soft chuckle before grabbing the remote and unceremoniously dropping it on Zoey’s face. It hit her square in the nose before falling off the couch. “Ok ok, I did promise we could watch that show.”
Zoey gave Mira a playful glare as she picked up the remote and turned on teenage mutant ninja turtles. As the theme song started Mira put her arm around Zoey, who curled up into her side.
“Just one or two episodes tho, yeah?”
“Hehe, wow Mira I guess you really DON’T know me. And to think after all this time we’ve spent together.”
“Yeah yeah, lets just watch your turtle show and go to bed.”
“Hmmm.”
The two girls cuddled together on the couch, falling asleep after three or four episodes. Dreaming of a third member on their team, with a voice like an angle and eyes that glittered like gold. The three of them sealed the honmoon together, and lived happily ever after.

Meanwhile In Yeosu, a young woman was waiting for a ferry to Jeju island. She didnt have a ticket, didn’t have money for it. How could she when she hadn’t been in Korea for decades. She didnt even have a passport or ID. Getting any sort of paperwork would raise questions. Questions she couldnt answer.
Earlier she had asked around for the ferry schedule, finding one that left the mainland late at night and arrived early in the morning. It was the perfect time to sneak aboard without anyone noticing. Her purple hair might make blending in a bit hard, but regardless she knew how to move undetected.
She had been living unseen, and unheard for so long it had become normal. Even when the honmoon had reached out, searching for her, she had kept silent. It had been so long since she had been home it almost didnt feel like home anymore. It was just the place she had grown up, had learned everything about who she was and why.
She would go back to Korea, the honmoon had called her there, but she wouldnt respond. She wouldnt let herself be seen just yet. Not when she had no idea who or what awaited her there. Most likely it was the new generation of hunters, the ones she never met. The ones Ha-Yoon had trained, or maybe the generation after them. She didnt know yet, and until she did she would remain hidden. She would wait and see. She would be patient.
So why was she getting so excited?
