She was going to die here, alone, cold, and suffocating. Dying with no dignity and not even enough strength to hide away the same way a dying animal would. All she could do was lay on the concrete and wait for what felt like the inevitable, maybe God would welcome her into his heavenly warmth, or maybe he’d look at her sins and banish her to burn in hell.
(The threads pulsed brighter and sharper, musical notes shrieking and wailing in a way that made her head pulse with pain and a muted sense of fear)
She didn’t care anymore; she was just tired of thinking and praying to a god that turned her away. She was so tired, she let her eyes being to slide closed.
Not noticing the tall figure approaching her, following those threads and reaching out to soothe the frantic energy.
“It’s not your time yet, huntress.”
