Summary
They don’t do the easy drop-ins anymore. Eddie doesn’t find Buck half-asleep on his couch or rummaging through the fridge or baking up loaves of bread like he owns the place. He doesn’t show up at Eddie’s door with takeout and a grin like he belongs there. Eddie doesn’t go over to Buck’s much either —doesn’t know when that started exactly.
When they hang out, there’s usually Ravi in the mix. The kid’s smart and earnest and too good at pretending he isn’t paying attention. Eddie likes Ravi. He really does. But he can’t help resenting him just a little. He can’t help the small, selfish sting of it.
Like Buck needs a buffer now.
Like being alone together is something to be avoided.
And, fuck.
Eddie misses Buck.
