Chapter Text
They all finally leave the gate and are met with the military pointing guns at them. They all put their hands up.
“You better not move, we will shoot.” A guard says.
The last time Robin was held at gunpoint was when she was kidnapped by Russians. Her heart began to beat faster. Robin looks over and sees Dustin and Mike being held down and looks back at the guns on her. Her breath quickly gets faster as her eyes dart around.
“Robs, you're okay.” Nancy said, noticing her panicked state.
A guard came up to each of the girls and grabbed their arms, pulling them behind their back to cuff them. Robin's breath becomes more shaky as everything shifts in and out of focus.
“Hey Robin, it's okay.” Nancy looks at the guard, “let her go, she’s having a panic attack.”
Her heart is beating out of her chest as her knees begin to buckle. Robin falls to the floor, a gun being pointed at her back. Her breath hitches and she’s gasping for air. “N—Nance, I— I can’t— breathe.” She says through gasps.
“Please let her go!” Nancy tries to go to Robin but is grabbed by a guard.
“Sorry but no.” He says.
“Let her go, you idiots! Can’t you see her freaking out?” Mike shouts.
“Deep breaths Robin, you're okay!” Nancy tried to calm her.
Robin is sobbing, trying her best to control her breathing.
“Let the girl go.” An officer calls out. Robin recognizes him as Chief Powell.
The military do as they are told and uncuff everyone. Nancy rushes to Robin’s side, “look at me, you're okay.” She grabs her chin, guiding her in a breathing exercise.
Robin’s vision slowly becomes less blurry, her hands beginning to stop shaking. “That’s it, breathe.” Nancy says.
“You kids better get out of here before we change our minds.” A guard says.
Powell shoots him a look, then looks at the kids. “Go home.”
It seems that Powell has been in control of this post, luckily he convinced the military to back down.
Nancy leads Robin to the car with El, Mike, and Dustin following behind her.
‘Splash!’ Robin shields her face, her body covering Max’s. “Careful Dustin! We’ve got a blind girl here.”
Max laughs as she moves her hands from her face and reaches for Robin. She grabs Max’s hands and gently guides her through the water.
“Sorry!” Dustin calls out.
“What is with you and cannonballs man?” Steve says.
“What’s with you and not liking fun?” Dustin jokingly bites back.
“I like fun!” Steve gets defensive.
Eddie comes up behind him, putting his arm around his shoulder, “sure you do big boy.” He smiles, knowing Steve hates this nickname.
Nancy walks through the back gate with Mike. “Sorry we’re late, Mike took forever getting ready.” Mike glares at Nancy for outing him.
“Mike!” Will jumps out of the water and gives him a hug.
“Get in the pool, we can play water chicken!” Dustin calls out.
“Dustin, get on me.” Lucas says. Dustin climbs Lucas as Will and Mike hop in, Will getting on Mike's shoulders.
“Hey Nance!” Robin calls out, guiding Max to El, who is also in the water.
“Hi darling!” Nancy says, sitting on the wall and dipping her feet in. Robin had accidentally outed them a few days ago by calling Nancy ‘baby’. It was better this way anyways, now Robin and Nancy could be free to love each other around others.
Robin swims to the wall where Nancy is sitting. “I missed you.” She smiles.
“Oh yeah? I did too.” Nancy leans back on her hands. Robin admired her girlfriend, smiling at how beautiful she was.
“You just gonna stare at me all day love?” Nancy giggles.
Robin nods her head as she grabs Nancy’s knees to pull herself up. “Yeah, because you're beautiful, princess.”
Nancy rolls her eyes at the nickname, she hates it but Robin will never drop it. Nancy looks down at Robin’s scarred hands and places her own over them. Robin pulls herself up more to give her a kiss.
“Oh my god can you two stop being so gay.” Eddie says in a joking tone, trying to hold back his laughter and failing.
“Shut up Munson.” Robin says, then looks at Nancy. “You getting in the water?”
“Mmm, I think I’ll stay out for now.” Nancy says.
A mischievous smirk grows on Robin’s face, she grips Nancy’s hands and pulls her in. When Nancy rises from the water, she has a huge shocked smile on her face.
“You did not!” Nancy giggles. Robin tries to run away but Nancy clings to her back, almost pushing her underwater.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Robin calls out.
“You better be!” Nancy finally lets go, Robin turning around and pulling Nancy closer by the hips.
Robin stares at every feature on Nancy’s face, taking her in. “I love you Nance.”
Nancy blushes, “I love you too Robbie.”
‘Splash!’ Water hits their faces.
“Haha! We win!” Dustin shouts.
“That’s not fair! You cheated!” Mike shouts as Will emerges from the water.
“How do you cheat in water chicken?” Lucas says, helping Dustin down.
“I don’t know but you did!” Mike says.
“Stop being a sore loser Mike!” Nancy calls out.
Mike opens his mouth to tell her off but stops as Will koala hugs his back. Mike grabs his legs, holding him in a piggyback.
While the kids played, Nancy and Robin sat on the wall. The sun began to set as Eddie played his guitar with Steve watching intently.
Robin leans into Nancy, “you think he’s got a crush?” She whispers.
Nancy chuckles, “definitely.”
Robin smirks, she’s totally going to annoy him about it just like he would with her and Nance. Robin leaned back on her hands, closing her eyes and listening to Eddie’s guitar.
Nancy looked at Robin, staring at her body and the scars that covered them. There were Demobat bites on her stomach and fire burns on her hands. Nancy held Robin’s hand and looked at Eddie.
Eddie was covered in scars too. There were multiple Demobat bites all over him. The majority of his body is covered in fire scars which were on most of his stomach and chest as well as on his face. It starts from the bottom of his stomach to his cheek, all on the left side. Nancy still feels guilty for this but every time she tries to apologize, Eddie shuts her down.
It began to get darker and Nancy decided it was time for the kids to go home. “Alright, time for you guys to walk home.”
“Everyone’s spending the night at ours right?” Mike asked.
“Yeah, make sure you watch out for each other. Especially Max.” Nancy says as the kids get out of the pool and grab their things.
“You got it!” Dustin says.
They all head towards the gate and begin walking home.
“Love you Max!” Robin shouts.
“Love you!” Max calls back.
Eddie sets his guitar down, sighing. “anyone want beer?”
Nancy chuckles, “god Ed, the kids barely left.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Eddie pulls out some beers and hands one to each of them. Steve and Eddie sit together on the outdoor sofa. Nancy and Robin sit on the other one across from them.
Robin takes an exaggerated deep sigh.
“What?” Steve asks.
“Oh nothing.” She takes a sip from her beer.
“Nothing? You just sighed.” Steve says.
“Did I?” Nancy nudges Robin. “I was just thinking about how often you're around Eddie.” She winks.
“Fuck you.” Steve jokes as Robin flips him off.
“We’re just friends, isn’t that right, big boy?” Eddie pats his chest. Steve almost chokes on his beer.
Robin breaks out in laughter. Steve collects himself, “shut up, you guys are literally cuddling!”
“Yeah because I love my girlfriend, you jealous?” Robin smirks.
Steve rolls his eyes.
“Is Buck already drunk?” Eddie teases.
“I’ve only had one sip! I’m not that lightweight, jeez.” Robin cuddles up to Nancy.
The rest of the night is spent talking about random topics, drinking, and of course Eddie’s back on weed.
The later it got the more Robin cuddled into Nancy. She’s drunk. Nancy could tell by the way her words slurred and how needy she was being. Nancy had an arm around her as Robin cuddled into her chest.
“Alright, I’m beat. I’m going to bed, night ladies!” Eddie says as he puts out his joint and heads inside.
“You guys are welcome to spend the night too.” Steve says.
“Yeah, I don’t think I’ll be able to get her home.” Nancy looks down at Robin who’s fast asleep. Steve chuckles as he heads inside.
Nancy looks at her girlfriend, pulling a hair out of her face. Robin stirs awake. “Hey darling.” Nancy says softly.
“Babes? Are we still at Steve’s?” Robin asked.
“Yeah, let's head inside and go to bed.” Nancy gently helps her up and into the guest room.
Robin stumbles to the bed as Nancy closes the door. She heads over to the closet and pulls out some pjs. They both stay over at Steve’s enough for them to have some spare clothes in the guest room.
Nancy puts on the pajama shirt that Robin lended her a while back. The ‘Love is a Battlefield’ shirt. She heads over to Robin who’s almost asleep again.
“Come on angel, let’s get you in your pj’s.” Nancy rubs Robin’s back. Robin groans, not wanting to get up. “Come on love, it’ll be quick.”
Robin sits up and Nancy helps her into her pj’s. She sits at the edge of the bed, grabbing Nancy’s waist and pulling her in.
“Come to bed.” Robin slurs.
“I am darling.” Nancy brushed a hair behind Robin's ear. Robin lays her head on Nancy’s stomach, wrapping her hands around her back. “You're so sleepy, huh?”
Robin nods in response. Nancy smiles, “I love you Robs.”
“I love you princess,” Robin smirks.
Nancy grabs her chin, forcing her to look at her. “You're doing that on purpose.”
Robin giggles, “maybe I am.”
“Then no cuddles.”
Robin pouts, “no, please.” She wines.
Nancy crosses her arms, Robin still holding her hips. “I’m sorry, babe. Please come cuddle.” Nancy looks away from her, a smile tugging at her lips.
“Nance! I love you!” Robin drags out the last word.
Nancy cups her face, “that’s better.” She pulls her into a kiss.
“You're wearing my shirt.” Robin says as they pull away, a smile on her face.
“Yeah, it’s my favorite.” Nancy stroked Robin’s cheeks, which are now blushing.
“So you have a favorite shirt now?” Robin asked.
“Yeah, I guess I do.” Nancy says.
She crawls into bed and gets comfortable as Robin lays on Nancy’s chest.
“You comfy angel?” Nancy asks.
“Mhm,” Robin closes her eyes.
“Give me a kiss,” Nancy says, Robin quickly obliged.
She lays her head back down and sighs. Nancy plays with Robin’s hair, kissing her head every once and a while. She begins thinking about how lucky she is to have such a beautiful and kind girlfriend. She’s also thankful that everyone made it out safe and now get to just be kids.
Nancy takes a deep breath. She closes her eyes and quickly falls asleep in Robin’s arms.
