Summary
At the turn of the 20th century, Dennis was a simple farm boy. Sequestered in Broken Bow, Nebraska, he always accepted that his fate would probably rest somewhere west of Omaha. He’d marry a girl, help run the farm, have a few children and get on with his life—no matter the daydreams and the nights spent wishing he could be anywhere else.
Until his uncle writes with a peculiar proposition.
Now a clerk in Pittsburgh and trying to find his way in the world, he finds it isn’t so shiny and pretty as his dreams once depicted. He’s sick. And it only seems to be getting worse.
Robby is a doctor with a chip on his shoulder the size of the Allegheny, but he isn’t going to pass up the chance to diagnose something like this. Especially when there’s something about this boy that calls to his soul: to his blood. In Dennis he faces a challenge he’s never been forced to confront before.
Can Robby conquer his past and help this young man or will the trying destroy them both in the process?
