Summary
In 1976, Lily Evans is just months away from co-founding the Order of the Phoenix and taking the war effort into her own hands when she discovers firsthand that nobody's coming to save Wizarding Britain from the threat of Lord Voldemort--but first, she's got to come to terms with James Potter and their fellow Gryffindor sixth years' sudden new role in her life as her biggest (and only) emotional support. Six years later, her world turns upside down once more when the spy within the Order of the Phoenix is revealed.

Summary
As far as he can tell, Sirius has got two options. He can beg forgiveness from his family and spend the next seven years rejecting his house and toeing the pureblood line—or he can do what the Sorting Hat said he wants to do, take the space he’s going to get from being a Gryffindor to figure out what he thinks is right and wrong.
(Or: Sirius Black finds himself challenging his beliefs about blood purity and family with the help of his new friends in his first five years at Hogwarts. Prequel to Through A Glass Darkly, but not necessary to read Darkly to understand this fic. Marauder/Gryffindor friendships and Black family relationships with Sirius/Emmeline, Sirius/Marlene, and the slowest burn Sirius/Remus.

Summary
But that’s crazy, he tells himself firmly. Half the problem with the rest of the wizarding world is that nobody who didn’t live through the Order of the Phoenix’s story actually has all the facts straight. Uncle Sirius and Uncle Remus aren’t worried about getting caught in a lie: they’re worried about Draco hearing skewed stories from people who don’t know what they’re talking about and getting upset for no reason.
But then, why haven’t they just told Draco the truths that it sounds like they’ve been concealing? What have they been concealing—and why?
xx
In a canon-divergent AU where the First Wizarding War was the only Wizarding War, and where Voldemort and the Death Eaters met their downfall in 1983, best friends Harry, Ron, Neville, and Draco find themselves navigating a Hogwarts that's entirely hostile to the legendary and notorious Order of the Phoenix.
This is a sequel to a few Marauder-era fics of mine but can be read as a standalone (and is a lot more interesting as a mystery if you do read it as a standalone, lol).
