Summary
The first time the Red-Bottomed Horse Monkey opened her eyes it was to cries of distress.
But for a long moment, all she could do was lay there, dazed, as she tried to make sense of her new existence and the near perfect white void that she had awoken to.
A swirling energy ebbed and flowed all around her, entering and leaving this space through invisible means. She held up a hand and wondered at the appendage as she experimentally wiggled her fingers, looking at it from all angles, before paying attention to how the energy flowed around it.
Qì, her mind provided.
The story of the Red-Bottomed Horse Monkey.

Summary
Not one to waste time on things he didn't understand he turned back to the monkey still hanging limp in his arms and decided the best course of action was to take him with him to Flower Fruit Mountain. There was no better place for a monkey to be after all! He told his unknowing audience as much as he threw him over his shoulder.

Summary
Peng however had decided, practically upon first sight, that Macaque was theirs to pursue.
If ever the two were in the same room, you could bet that Peng would be as close to Macaque as they could reasonably get away with - whether it be sat beside him at feasts or standing ever too close for comfort.
They sought him out - claiming that they simply must train together or that he must come and referee fights. Macaque was under no illusion that this wasn't just so Peng could show off.
Peng hadn't always spoken so lowly of the Six-Eared Macaque.

Summary
Gōngzhǔ was not someone Macaque wanted to see on a good day but given she was consort to the Demon Bull King - one of the few allies Flower Fruit Mountain had left - he had little choice but to acquiesce to her request for a private meeting.
God knows what she wanted - she had been deliberately vague in her letter but had promised that her proposal was one she was sure that both their clans would find beneficial.
Flower Fruit Mountain used to have a staunch ally in the Demon Bull clan and this was in no short part due to their very skilled Regent.

Summary
When Ma started to speak, he realised with a jolt that they had stopped talking for several minutes. She looked a little dizzy, "Mac... do you suddenly feel like we're underwater...?"
He didn't but he definitely didn't feel like reality was existing the way it was supposed to - everything felt so... unreal. He tried to piece together what was going on, but his thoughts were staggeringly slow. He and Ma stared at each other for far too long before as one they looked to the tea pot that was sitting between them on the opposite end of the table.
Eloquently, Ma muttered, "Shit."
Macaque and Ma are immortal and can't be killed by mere poison, this does not mean that it doesn't greatly affect them.

Summary
It was of no surprise to Guānyīn that she felt deeply affected by Sun Wukong's distress over his missing friend. He had approached her sometime ago for her assistance in locating the Six-Eared Macaque and when it became clear that she could not hear him in the mortal realm, it had been with a heavy heart that he asked if she could check the Diyu for him.
It was the obvious conclusion to draw, if she could not locate him then there was little chance he was still alive.
If the Six-Eared Macaque was dead, the Ten Kings would know wouldn't they?

Summary
He really could understand the appeal of the mirror - to see and hear people you loved and missed... He could think of many people he'd love to see again but to lock yourself away in a dark room for god knows how long and do nothing else? It spoke volumes of having either nothing else to do, grief or a terrible combination of both.
He stared at the mirror and tentatively raised a hand to take hold of it before aborting the attempt and putting his hand back down. There were lots of people he'd like to see again but he knew who he missed the most, knew he wouldn't be able to resist the temptation.
To see his face, to hear his voice, after so long... Ba could easily understand the trap that Wukong had fallen into but he couldn't let this continue. There was a bigger problem to tackle but in the meantime the mirror had to go.
Wukong would really like his generals and marshals to stop worrying about him, it would be easier if he'd stop giving them so many reasons to.

He pointed to himself in disbelief, "You think one of the Spirits blessed me? And one that's all about working hard? No way! I'm super lazy! You know what? I bet they blessed my dad and his blessing just rubbed off on me! Now that's a guy that knows how to work hard! He works harder than anyone else I know!"
They chuckled, "Well, you certainly worked hard to reach me. I think you need to give yourself a little credit at least. Not many people would be willing to climb a mountain just to deliver noodles."
He mumbled, "Yeah, well, not many people have a boss like mine."

He should have dedicated his second life to finding a way to destroy that retched key. He doesn't believe now that there was anywhere he could have hidden it that her thrall wouldn't have found it.

Summary
In the light of the day, there was a part of him that felt embarrassed for running and crying to his dad just because he'd had a bad dream. He was an adult and he was a hero on top of that! He wasn't supposed to go crying to his dad, especially not over something as silly as a nightmare!
Still, he couldn't deny that he'd been thoroughly rattled by it and he found himself reluctant to be anywhere away from Pigsy.
As MK struggles with change, time spent with family might be just what he needs.
