Summary
He glances up when Satoru gets close enough, the fairy lights catching gold in his irises. He doesn’t look as haunted anymore, which makes every bit of Satoru’s current exhaustion worth it. Satoru settles on not even calling him out for the cigarette, this time. He nudges at where he approximates Suguru’s socked foot should be.
“Make room,” he says and bullies his way into Suguru’s cocoon. Suguru hisses as he burrows into his side. Adjusting to each other isn’t hard, and the blanket is more than big enough. When they’re in a satisfying tangle of limbs, Satoru sighs and lets himself relax back. The smell of tobacco will never not be nasty to him, but his two best friends being firmly viced has kind of Pavlov’d him into finding it vaguely comforting. It’s also clear by the stale sweat-stink Suguru hasn’t showered, but Satoru doesn’t care. He even sticks his nose in his lank hair until Suguru gently butts his head away with his own.
Suguru blows a stream out away from Satoru and asks, “Did you guys have fun?”

“I think the time to get rid of them is closer than we thought it’d be.”
Suguru flicks his gaze back to Satoru’s profile. His eyes aren’t glowing anymore but his tone is bone chilling, flat and not doing anything to conceal the real rage underneath it. It always makes Suguru’s nerves flare when he gets like that. He sounds so much like he did when he first unlocked his Eyes: detached to the point of destruction. There’s only one group of people he could be talking about that way.
“What happened?”
Satoru’s nostrils flare on a hard exhale. There’s a twitch in his brow Suguru usually smooths away. “Yuuji died,” he says and Suguru turns to face him fully, not quite registering what that means.

It’s not what Satoru expects him to ask at all. He pulls a face, mouth falling open in confusion. “What? No. Why the hell would we need a contingency plan? Why would I be making the contingency plan in the first place? That’s what I’ve got you… for.” His face clears of any trace of sleeping and he leans up slightly. “This is what you were mad about in the dream. Sukuna.”
Instead of acknowledging that, Suguru measuredly asks, “You want to get cremated when you die, right?”
