Thomas makes his way to the door and raps gently on the frame, politely announcing his presence to the distraught captain within. “James?” he calls, as soft as the breeze, and he steps inside so that he can slide the door shut behind him.
James looks up at him, his eyes red and his cheeks tear-stricken, from where he’s thrown himself akimbo across the bed, like a distraught maiden in a romance novel. He tosses his hair back with a bit more flair than strictly necessary and practically wails Thomas’s name, making Thomas feel simultaneously desired and uncomfortable. “Thomas, Thomas,” James gasps, reaching for him with clawing fingers. “I need you.”
