Silence hung over the duo like a heavy mist, blacking out the world around them until the only thing they knew was the two of them. They sat at a table together, on opposite sides yet close enough that their knees brushed whenever weight was shifted in their chairs. The taller of the bunch, a man who’s blue hair fell over his face in curled bunches, raised his head to meet the gaze of the woman before him.“Wine?” He offered, voice low and scratchy — whether it was from disuse or illness could not be deciphered.
The woman smiled, though it lacked any true emotion. “You know me too well, Doctor.”

The moonlight shone through her unnecessarily large windows and highlighted the figure of a certain doctor, crumpled on the ground. Dottore’s head was resting against the edge of Signora’s bed, his mask still on but tilted to the side enough to reveal his full mouth. Childe didn’t need the moonlight to see the tears staining Dottore’s cheeks.

Tartaglia stole a quick glance to Pierro’s balcony only to notice how his gaze was on the Tsaritsa personally instead of the rest of them. His eye seemed to share a deep, painful knowledge with her, sadness pooling in his blue iris as if rainwater to a pond. It didn’t take much to know how painful this had to be for the two of them personally – everyone knew of the night Pierro stumbled through the Tsaritsa’s doors with a dying Signora and begged for the Archon to save her.

“Frauyer,” her voice, cold like the blizzard raging outside yet warm like the fire that kept them all alive, echoed, “sit tight and keep your mouth firmly shut. This is an important meeting and you are not meant to be here to begin with.”
