Summary
“I do seek answers from you, Nefer, but I seek them in the same way I seek answers from the Moon Goddess above; I know they cannot change what is. I am not here for apologies or reminiscence. Our time apart has supplemented those. I see no viable reason why our assignations cannot continue as solely physical endeavours. Do you?”
Nefer pondered the question for a moment. “I suppose not. There are crazier things in Nod-Krai than a tryst lacking trust. My affections for you were never falsified, and I know yours weren’t either. Really, I can’t think of anyone else who could prompt me to have this sort of arrangement.”
Nefer and Lauma used to be in relationship (of sorts), but things went awry. That doesn't stop them from rekindling the ashen remnants of their past flame.

Summary
Lauma took a step closer, her presence quiet yet persistent, searching for any cracks in Nefer’s guarded façade. But Nefer remained as still as ever, her posture stiff. The air between them was thick with silence, heavy with the weight of that which was unspoken.
Lauma broke the stillness, her voice melodious as she spoke. “Nefer… it’s been quite some time since I’ve been in this room, hasn’t it?”
Nefer’s body tightened at the words, her eyes sharply diverting to Lauma for a brief moment. There was a flicker of reminiscence in her gaze, but it was masked as quickly as it was revealed.
Alternatively, my interpretation of the conversation that unfolded between Lauma and Nefer when Jahoda went to fetch Dori.
This fic has two chapters because I was indecisive and wrote two ways in which the scene could unfold. There is some repeated text, so I've demarcated off where the unique section starts by italicizing it.

Summary
Steady and composed, Lauma walked over to Nefer, her every step deliberate. She raised her hand above Nefer's face, the silvery gleam of her blood catching the light in the dimness around them. Drops of blood flowed like rain in barren land, the promise of renewal and vitality imbued within them. Silver met brown as her blood mingled with Nefer's own. The blood dried in patches along Nefer's lower eyelid and cheek, the colour of rust - shiny, but faded. Nefer shuddered as the blood continued to drip but she remained still. She fought the tremors in her body and summoned every last ounce of energy to stay steady.
After the battle against Rerir, Nefer is left blind and dependent on Lauma’s care for her recovery. The event pulls the two women together, compelling them to face the undeniable closeness that neither can easily dismiss. As vulnerability slips through the cracks of the walls they've built between them, they find themselves drawn to each other in ways they thought had faded with time.

Summary
"I could see you concentrating," Lauma said, her voice lowering into something sultry. "But I don’t think you were concentrating on that book you’re holding. Your eyes kept…wandering."
Lauma has her suspicions that Nefer has a desire for a certain kink. Luck is on her side when she is given a chance to put it into action.

Summary
"Please, Nefer."
Nefer stepped back, turning as though to head toward the path leading to Lauma’s chambers, but Lauma reached out and caught her hand. Nefer raised a brow, amused.
"Here?" she asked, her voice a low delight. “How scandalous, Lauma. Your goddess is carved three paces from this alcove, and moreover, anyone could pass by.”
“I can’t walk the main path like this,” Lauma hissed softly. “Everyone is scattered preparing for the rites. I’ll be seen before I even make it halfway.”
“Then,” Nefer said, stepping closer again, winking as she did so. “I won't waste the precious time we have."

Summary
"I'm... I'm just gonna go," Nefer murmured, her voice softer than Lauma expected, almost too soft, like a whisper. Nefer was clearly trying to pull away, retreat into herself again, the way she always had.
It wasn’t like her to leave so abruptly. There was something she wasn’t saying - perhaps relating to the packages on the ground. Lauma could feel it in her bones, the unspoken words hanging heavy in the air. Nefer didn’t truly want to leave; she was just too stubborn to admit she wanted to stay.
"You can’t go home this late, Nefer," Lauma said, her voice firm, but not harsh. To Nefer's dismay, it lacked the softness it once had.
"It’s far too late to be out on your own," continued Lauma. "You should at least have something to eat. I once told you that Hiisi would always welcome you. I do not intend to retract that statement."
A year after their breakup, Nefer finds her way to Lauma's hometown with the simple mission of delivering ungifted presents.

Summary
“What I think is fair,” Lauma said relaxedly, her gaze dipping down to Nefer's lips before returning to her eyes, “is for me to settle the bill. And really, the proper place for such… accounting would be your office, wouldn’t it?”
The Lady Moonchanter has a rather inconvenient habit of commissioning work from the owner of the Curatorium of Secrets, racking up bills she has little means to pay. Fortunately for both, they’ve found a satisfactory way to settle these transactions. Sometimes, a carefully chosen compliment accompanied by an exhilarating physical endeavour is more valuable than even mora.

Summary
But then, amidst the warmth and the quiet, a faint sound broke through. A soft, breathy whimper of her name. It was hardly audible - like a whisper caught in the wind - but it was enough to stop Nefer in her tracks.
She froze, her attention snapping fully to Lauma. The air around them seemed to still for a moment, the crackling of the fire fading even further in the background as Nefer became aware of the tension that had unwittingly begun to press into the atmosphere. Lauma’s breathing had deepened, the rise and fall of her chest growing more erratic as her body tensed beneath Nefer’s touch.
