Light scanned the room again. Everyone avoided eye contact, their expressions stuck somewhere between concern and confusion. The silence stretched awkwardly until the door opened and a doctor stepped inside.
Clipboard. Nervous posture. Forced neutrality.
“Young man,” the doctor began, clearing his throat. “We received your blood test results.”
Light narrowed his eyes. His voice came out sharper than he intended. “Blood test? What blood test?”
The doctor hesitated, a bad sign.
“It came back positive.”
Light felt irritation spike. “Positive for what?”
The room tensed as if bracing for impact.
Then the doctor said it, blunt, emotionless, devastating:
“You’re pregnant.”
The world stopped.

But L noticed how Light's sweet pomegranate scent had gone sour, how he no longer hummed Japanese radio songs as he cooked. Though he cooed at Harumi, he didn't say a word to L as he placed a plate none too gently in front of him, nor did he take a plate for himself. Instead, he disappeared off to nurse Harumi.
