Summary
In his years of piracy, Benn Beckman had visited myriad islands and met even more kids whose eyes sparkled when they saw pirates. Luffy was different. For starters, Beckman had stayed on Dawn long enough to watch the kid grow up, and had continued to do so from afar, long after he had left—through letters from Makino or newspaper clippings.
And for all he had shared with Luffy, and all he hadn't, Beckman cherished one moment above all others. When the sun closed its eyes and it was just Beckman and Luffy for a walk at the end of the day.
It seemed fitting that this was also his last memory with Luffy.
OR
Beckman watches his son grow up over the years until he can no longer.

Summary
Durant ses années de pirateries, Benn Beckman avait visité des myriades d'îles et rencontré encore plus d'enfants aux yeux brillants en voyant des pirates. Luffy était différent. Pour commencer, Beckman était resté assez longtemps sur Dawn pour voir le gamin grandir et avait continué à le faire de loin, longtemps après son départ — à travers des lettres de Makino ou des coupures de journaux.
Et avec tout ce qu'il avait partagé avec Luffy, et tout ce qu'il n'avait pas pu, Beckman chérissait un moment parmi tous. Quand le soleil fermait ses yeux et qu’il ne restait que Beckman et Luffy le temps d’une balade à la fin de journée.
Il semblait approprié que ce soit aussi son dernier souvenir avec Luffy.

Beckman voit son fils grandir au fil des années jusqu'à ce qu'il ne puisse plus.

With Shanks in recovery and Luffy having Nightmares he seeks out Beckman who teaches him how to carve, soft little bonding moments between them both while they were still docked on Dawn before they left.
OR
Benn teaches Luffy how to carve like his Da taught him and sees the results years later when Mihawk finds them on the spring island to deliver the bounty and a gift.
