“Oh, sorry, I just- I dropped something, and it- it rolled under, and I was trying to get it back…”
All Tabbers could see were his legs sticking out, flailing a bit as he tried to wiggle back out. It was like watching a baby bantha learning to crawl; slow, awkward, and oddly determined. Cal was pinned flat to the floor, arms no doubt reaching further into the corners.
“I didn’t even know you could get under there. It’s tiny.”
He snorted, crossing his arms and leaning against the doorframe, already halfway to a grin.
Then an idea hit him.
“Hey. Come out with me,”
Tabbers has a new bunkmate. He’s quiet most of the time, keeps his head down, doesn’t cause trouble. But tonight? Tabbers thinks he might’ve just found a great use for him. The kid’s quick on his feet, not bad with tools, and honestly? He could be worse. He could be boring.
