Summary
“A typical mastery begins with a master, and an apprentice, and a contract. In a narrow field with few masters however, one must forge their own way. The mastery I seek has few masters, and fewer to walk the path. Luckily, Spoons walks beside me, and while he seeks a different mastery to mine, our paths are mirrored to each other. I find myself encouraged therefore that I am able to take a record for any who walk this path in the coming days.”
—Excerpt from “The Thief's Key, Volume One, as scribed for the recipience of Inkheart, with all notations and supplementary materials preserved.Nori, a dwarrow thief determined to do so honorably, meets Bilbo, orphaned and waiting for a chance to follow in his mother’s footsteps. This lays a new path for the weaving of the world.
Meanwhile the Song of Arda sung by Eru overlaid an old one. In the absence of the Ainu, busy in Valinor and ignoring Middle Earth, those that remained discover that old Songs can grow much louder in the absence of attention.
The Void always held more than Ungoliant. The world was always much bigger than the Ainu’s songs and tapestries.

Summary
Of course, Elrond was nothing but a mass of contradictions. He was Fëanorian, and yet not a kinslayer; he was Dior’s grandson, yet treated him as a son; he could well prove to be cruel despite his kind veneer. Logic suggested he should run from any Fëanorian as fast as he could. But if he ignored his hatred of the Fëanorians and looked at Elrond as a person, he found he liked what he saw. He had been honest with Dior from the start, even when it would have been more convenient for him to lie; he was patient; and he seemed kind and gentle. More than any elf he had ever met, he reminded Dior of Beren.
Elrond retrieves Dior, Elurín, and Eluréd from the Halls of Mandos in the Fourth Age and helps them adjust to life in Valinor as half-elves.

Summary
Fingon thinks that fighting Void monsters from the deck of Vingilot is a 'fun little warm up for Dagor Dagorath.' Maedhros wishes that Elrond would give him a straight answer to what he thinks is a very reasonable question. Thranduil feels that helping him come up with a better way for elves to practice fighting dragons is 'the very least that Maedhros could do, after he was responsible for killing everyone's grandparents.' These three things are not unrelated.
Or, Maedhros workshops how best to express the sentiments, ‘Sorry about the mass murder. Thank you for giving me yet another chance. Now, what can I do to make up, even a little, for all the harm I’ve done?' Meanwhile, those who love him rejoice in his return, and try to be supportive. Those who are coming to love him - or at least like him - do much the same.
Please note that this story can be read on its own, you do not have to have read any of the other stories in the series(es).

Summary
Elwing hated the feanorians. They were the very monsters of her childhood's stories, greedy and traitors to their own kind. And for this reason, as a lot of parents tend to do when they warn their children of the monsters who might be hiding under their beds, she told her sons about the feanorians and their fiery hearts, about their bloody hands and the cruel legends of old of cities covered in ashes.
But sometimes stories stay just that, stories, meant to scare the youngest in the warm summer evenings and letting them know how safe they are hidden his their parent's arms.
The story of the seven sons of Feanor had no such moral, it came with a warning and the acrid taste of smoke. -

Summary
“Do you know what it means to wait for ages? To search the stars and scour the seas for a glimpse of hope? He is the man who gave me and my brother life when the world sought to take it away. I have lived in torment, questioning whether the Valar themselves have cursed me, as Morgoth cursed Túrin Turambar—to a life of grief, of loss, of love that turns to ash in my hands!”
Elrond’s chest heaved as he fought to steady his breath, his eyes glistening. “If bringing him back requires my humiliation, my penance, even my ruin, I would offer it gladly. Do not speak to me of conditions, for I would rather be hurled into the void to dwell with Morgoth than deny the man I love as my father.”
Mirion’s steely mask cracked, if only for a moment. She inclined her head, her voice softened but still laced with cynicism. “That was... sufficiently dramatic. You have passed the test, Peredhel.”
