Summary
“I missed you too,” Jade had laughed softly into Kit's hair. Indulging in the way Kit didn't seem to want to let her go.
Jade remembered how Kit was blushing after. Remembered following it with her eyes as she tracked the warmth travelling all the way up Kit's ears. The way it lit up her face. Contrasted with those floppy dark locks of hair Jade was so fond of. When Kit pulled back just enough so their eyes could meet Jade didn't recognize the look on her best friend's face until it was too late. Until Kit was leaning in and suddenly nothing else existed.
When Jade Claymore turned 24, Kit kissed her, and nothing was the same.
The universe, karma, some twisted string of fate; Something must have decided the scales had tipped too heavily in Jade's favor (at least that was how she'd had reasoned it). The balance needed to be restored and Jade endured it as best as she could.

Some elements I think would have been explored in season 2 in a fic. Bavmorda torments Kit, we learn about what Jade would see in the wyrm realm, the cuirass shows some unexpected abilities, Hubert and Ann are definitely fae, and mostly this is 3k+ of Jade and Kit being soft for each other in some dicey situations.
