A modern day version of Sanditon. I'm going to try and stick to the storyline of the tv series as much as I can with modern variations. Things may not all happen in the correct order but hopefully it will turn out okay.
Yes it's a fanfic but I decided part way in I wanted this story to be more real and develop the issues I had mentioned, and see how two people can still find love and strength together.
Charlotte reveals through the story she has been involved in an emotional trauma for years by her father belittling her and that she was never good enough. After a visit to the farm, this forces her to confront all the years of holding it in, and it begins to affect her life as all of these put downs resurface. I've tried to write this as real as I can. It's a story of finding love and support through painful emotional trauma. Hope that explains it briefly.

He ignored her out-stretched hand. “I don’t have an assistant. Personal or not. Nor, do I need one.” His eyes flashed with annoyance.
The arrogant prick! Charlotte’s temper flared. “That is not what HR thinks, so I suggest you take it up with them, Mr. Parker,” she hissed, fighting like hell to control her temper.

Sanditon modern AU.
Charlotte Heywood grew up in a small village and worked at a local hotel after graduating from university, and she hasn't seen very much of the world. For as long as she can remember, she's been a fan of Jane Austen, often escaping into her works and adaptations, as well as running a blog for fellow Jane Austen fans.
Charlotte is forced out of her comfort zone when the hotel she's worked at for one year closes down, and she's offered a job working at a family-run architecture company in London.

And yet, there's something about Sidney Parker that intrigues Charlotte, in the same way that he seems to be drawn to her...

This story was inspired by the prompt given by FriendsofFanfiction – “The Last Austen Heroine”, asking us to focus on Charlotte rather than the men in her life. As I hadn’t even started it before the deadline, I thought I’d post it myself (plus it’s got 3 chapters). Thank you so much to FriendsofFanfiction for the idea.
A word of warning – this is a Sidlotte story in its soul but I’m afraid Sidney doesn’t come back from the dead in this one. I have no idea why I wanted to write this as it’s a bit gloomy and emotional (sorry!). I think it’s a reaction to my feeling that Season 2 really did not honour Sidney and Charlotte’s love or do justice to Charlotte’s character. If Season 2 had to be made and Sidney had to be taken out of the picture (debatable), I would have liked to see her remain single for much longer before eventually meeting a man who would treat her with respect and care for her (maybe even put a smile on her face!), as she deserves. -

This is principally Lucia’s story, told through letters that Charlotte writes and is a different scenario to that of the original fragment written by Jane Austen, which Andrew Davies based the Series on.
It is set in 1815. Charlotte has accompanied Lady Susan to Sanditon by invitation (there is a link to the Heywood Family) and becomes acquainted with the characters we already know and original characters too. Each part will feature a set of Letters, which Charlotte writes to her sister - Alison Heywood, also to Lady Susan Worcester, to her mother Mrs Heywood and other characters. This story will take place in Sanditon, Willingden, London, Munich and Antigua, incorporating themes and events including separation, death and fire. It is absolutely a Sidlotte HEA Ending, as we believe Jane Austen intended.
Cordeliajane has helped with the editing and English translation (Portuguese is Lucia’s first language) and general encouragement to publish the story.
