My take on the episode The Popular Kids in season 1, the one where the small town thinks a satanic cult is killing people, if Spencer was a mutant. Only Gideon, the one who recruited him, knows. He was thinking about confessing his status to Morgan, but the whole business of him telling their bosses about his nightmares has him rethinking who exactly he can trust.
The first chapter is an honest rewrite, not too much divergence from the canon. Mostly missing scenes and Spencer's inner monologue. I haven't decided if I want to make the subsequent chapter(s) rewrites too or not.

Basically, I have been a sucker for Spencer Reid as a mutant/empath (specifically) fics, and I've read nearly all of them, so I got to brainstorming.
**Update as of 8.10.2024: This used to be a one-shot, but I'm rewatching CM and so I've decided that if I find an episode that I can make fit with a "Spencer-Reid-is-an-Empath"-esque storyline, Im gonna keep it as "incomplete" but it will be updated from time to time! You can always bookmark it but I am not one to completely abandon works w/o finishing the story I want to tell, so If I ever stop updating this, I will make absolutely certain to mark it as Complete! <3

Summary
When bodies are cropping up with a mysterious mark on them, as well as a card calling out somebody he loves, how much will Spencer reveal in order to keep his family safe?
This started out as a re-write of the season 2 episode "Jones", but got away from me pretty quickly. I just wanted an excuse to set the case in New Orleans and mostly followed the structure of the episode. I put the archive warning there for the violence but it doesn't go past some basic descriptions of injury or death, far less than the show has. The violence is also the reason for the M rating.

Summary
Basically I like the premise of the episode where Reid is just convinced his dad murdered a child, but I think it's ridiculous that the BAU spent their resources on following that lead. A lot of important stuff happens in that episode but it's surrounded by things that just make no sense. So I attempted to fix it by throwing Logan in there!
I had this in my Logan and Spencer Chronicles series, but with the way I have it going it just doesn't fit anymore. It's still a good story and shares the major themes of it, but I took it out to open my doors a bit more

Hidden among the FBI and BAU Fem Spencer Reid (Samantha) has struggled to maintain her greatest secret that she was one of the hated and hunted mutants. She came into her main mutation as a way to escape the Football team’s last attack where they tied her to the goalpost. From there she struggled to hide before finally getting the hang of it. Only to be surprised by having a secondary occur while she was on her first few cases with the BAU leading to her having to hide even more. Now there is a group hunting in the very streets around where she lives murdering mutants and their families for the simple fact of the extra gene that is within their blood. Now her two worlds are about to meet and learn about each other.
Papa Logan will be in full protective mode as they fight to help Samantha heal and recover her life. While Aaron and David will work to help make sure that Samantha still has a chance to continue following her calling in working with the BAU and family that she’d been building ever since Gideon recruited her. -
