That's right. You were now in a war consuming the world, perpetuated by an enemy shrouded in obscurity. The war is easy, in the beginning. It is almost like a game. There is good and evil. Us versus them. All you have to do is give the orders and watch your kansen take care of the rest.
War, however, is never so simple, never so easy. Every horrific event one witnesses, every dance with Death one manages to step away from claws itself into the mind, creating thoughts that make the moments between thundering cannon-fire and wailing dive bombers all the more frightful. Moments like these are the worst part of the fighting. Any man's courage will break under the glaring black eyes of enemy cannons ready to let loose a few thousand pounds of compact death unto them.
