“Machine,” he said in wry, twisted amusement, “you are far more likely to grow a soul. When a day comes that an object such as yourself possesses such a thing, will be the day an angel can live without Father’s light.”
V1 knew a challenge when it heard one. It also knew it excelled at winning them.

Summary
Years after the mess that was university and being a complete shut-in, V1 has just moved in with their cousin who is desperate to help them get out more. Following an invitation to hang out with some of V2’s friends, V1 encounters someone who they hoped would never cross their path again. Their former university rival is back, but this time things are different. Gabriel is a guy now, an attractive guy, and worst of all, he’s just V1’s type.

V1 grabbed him by the chestplate and spun them both, throwing him at an end table. He was barely able to control his fall, managing to pivot his weight far enough to the side to prevent the table (and the vase on top) from crashing to the ground.
He could barely even begin to get up before he felt it grab the back of his chestplate and yank him back up onto his stumbling feet. Fuck, he loved when it manhandled him like this, but this wasn’t their fucking home.
V1 was going to destroy the room at this rate, and Minos was going to kill him.

Well. He supposed that most people would panic upon seeing a lover pinned to the wall with their own sword through their gut, never mind that Sisyphus saw something like this before.

"Yeah, pretty much," Mirage drawled. "It's kind of boring for the first few weeks before the insanity sets in, but after an indeterminable amount of time that depends on the individual, the general apathy numbs everything out and you snap back into sanity. Or deeper into insanity. Depends on your outlook, I guess."

Mirage is used to existing in a perpetual loop of running late to a school she will never arrive at, resigned to a boring, slice-of-life existence that didn't really have any meaning. Then she runs into two outliers of the loops: a machine called V1 and an angel called Gabriel. Now the loops are a little interesting, even if it is refereeing/popcorning at these two attempting to kill each other around the loop's strict rules of "no killing" and "no violence allowed".
The loop really likes its slice-of-life fluff, okay.

Mirage texts them a photo of the address. It’s smack in the middle of nowhere, tucked into the mountains next to the ocean. V1 whirrs out a sigh and texts back. “Fine. Fine. I’ll check it out soon. Give me until after class.”
Mirage replies with a horribly compressed image of her with a thumbs up emoji. “Tyyy. I think you’ll like it >:)”
“That’s so reassuring!” V1 texts back. They turn their phone over before she can reply. It’s about an hour drive. Hopefully they still have signal by the time they get there in case some mountain demon comes for them.

Summary
Trapped in a limbo state between life and death, the Ferryman takes on the task of bringing the souls of the dead to their final destination, motivated more by fear of the unknown than self-sacrifice. When his ship is destroyed by a beast from the depthless seas, he is rescued by an archangel, Gabriel, who mans one of the many lighthouses that keep darkness at bay, powered by a spark of the Father's flame.
The debt of a life saved is not so easily repaid, but the Ferryman is determined to do so, despite Gabriel's strange avoidance and increasingly secretive behaviour. As creatures in steel skin creep from the mists at night, their desperation for blood palpable, the Ferryman determines to follow Gabriel to the ends of the earth, no matter how terrible of an end the archangel carves for himself.
