Painted across the barren and desolate reaches of Texas, the shadows of the Project put additional pressure on Scully and Mulder's already fragile relationship. After a hostage crisis raises more questions about the Project's breeding program, Scully begins her own investigation, leaving Mulder to choose between saving her and saving himself. Finally, the investigation leads to tragedy and Mulder and Scully find that more questions have been asked than answered.
The title reference was to an island mentioned in Medea, to which we turned for fairly obvious reasons.
Take the warning seriously: extreme violence, including the death of children.

She’d probably take it as his derision toward a small, round-faced doctor being tasked to spy on him. He’d have to explain that it’s more to do with the men who sent her down here, the ones who probably took one look at the daemon riding Dana Scully’s shoulders and couldn’t ignore the symbolism of a massive golden eagle beside the rangy, gray hare perched on Mulder’s desk. In 1993, the Winchesters go looking for a creature that has already killed at least five people in and around a small town in Wisconsin. Over the last year, ten-year-old Sam has started to learn about hunting and is now an active participant in at least the early stages of a hunt. While he greatly enjoys learning the trade and being useful, he is beginning to understand the fear and danger that also go along with hunting - that which comes from outside the family, and that which comes from within.
As the hunt progresses, the Winchester boys meet up with Max Fenig, a UFO nut who may be seeking the same creature. Max seems to think that it's some kind of benevolent alien, despite Dean and Sam's protests. When John is taken out of the picture, Dean and Sam must protect both themselves and the monster's potential victims. Unfortunately, the creature has attracted the attention of everyone from UFO hunters to the Air Force to Special Agent Mulder of the FBI - but only Dean and Sam know what they're really facing. They can't save everyone, and they know to trust no-one.

Summary
Mulder and Scully are called to Pueblo, Colorado to investigate a train accident at a Department of Transportation facility. The locals blame the wreck on a phenomenon called "Blue LIghts".
Set early in the series canon (written between seasons 2 and 3), this is told from a time when their relationship was still somewhat antagonistic, in omniscient third person, multiple POVs. This is a full-length novel originally intended to become one of the novelizations the studio authorized, so there's no slash, no canon crossing--just Mulder and Scully being Mulder and Scully.
It's based around a real-life legend/phenomenon in my hometown, and includes places I worked. People from the area will recognize some of actual facilities. This was written early in my career as a professional writer. It's not as clean as some of my later original works, but I hope you enjoy it as a fan of the series!
