Summary
If Jedediah’s glare could set fires, the General Store would be up in flames right about now, along with the few citizens of the Wild West who had been daring enough to go over and try to speak with the silently fuming cowboy.
Nobody knew what had their leader in such a state. Most days Jed was in a fairly good mood, and even when fights broke out between the Americans and the Romans - or, hell, if the Mayans managed to join in - Jedediah was all bright smiles and high energy, raring to take on anyone who came his way. He loved the fun of the fight more than whatever outcome it gave. But clearly something had the cowboy looking like somebody pissed in his whiskey...not that he was about to tell anyone else what that something was.
(In which Octavius is trying to mend fences on multiple fronts, Jedediah gets jealous, and a big misunderstanding leads to better things.)

Summary
Octavius is the first to come down with it— and discovers all too quickly what it means to cough up flower petals, yet is unwilling to guilt his best friend into loving him just to save him. Jedediah ends up infected too, in his effort to help his best friend— who he secretly loves.
OR: A Hanahaki au, but it begs the question. If Hanahaki were a real disease, how would it have effected world history?

“I ain’t got nobody else to talk to and I know you don’t either. Now–” Jedediah shifted a bit in his seat, leaning in closer to Octavius, “–What’s yer favorite color?”
“Such a basic question! But fine. It’s red.” Octavius gestured to the red scarf on the back of his chair.
“Such a basic answer!” Jedediah shot back before answering the question himself. “Mine’s blue.”
“As if that is not any more basic of an answer!” Octavius’ threw his hands up in exasperation.
“Whatever, I swear if this is the attitude you have, I pity yer students, Octopus.”
or Octavius is a latin teacher who is fed up with adults but loves the kids like his own and Jedediah is an art teacher who loves to screw with his least favorite latin teacher.
