As the song gets closer and closer to its end, Wilhelm realizes he needs to get moving, or else he’ll miss his chance. He steps out onto the stage, walking between the instrumentalists and right behind Simon. There are lights, fog, of course, the music. The whole thing is very overwhelming, but the loud cheers from the crowd as they realize what is happening push him on.
He steps up behind Simon and wraps his arms around him. He feels the other man tense only for a moment before falling back against Wilhelm, laughing.

Summary
“Care to explain why you are dressing up as a peasant?” Simon asks with an exaggerated whisper, as he wants to avoid the people around him who will hear his words.
He could easily read the mind of the man and find out the truth quickly, but where is the fun in that? Simon is having the most fun he has had in weeks, if not even months or years, and sometimes a bit of patience goes a long way. The man intrigues him, and he wants to find out with his own words why he is here in the first place.
The man pales.
“I am not!” he argues, and Simon cannot help but start laughing.
“How can someone sound so confident when they also know they are not telling the truth?” Simon wonders with a smile. “You are a very curious person.”

The boy before him is close to death, Wilhelm begrudgingly notices. The pulse slowed down quite a while ago, the heart is beating weakly, and the skin is white despite the usually darker complexion.
Well, being drained of your blood for hours and hours and hours certainly leaves a mark, Wilhelm thinks smugly, and it is all because of him. What a shame it is the boy must die soon and cannot be kept around like a picnic basket, always ready and full and promising the best flavors of his blood.
This will be a night he will remember for a long time.

Summary
Our story begins as The Doctor finds himself in London in a beautiful new body, ready to take it for a spin on the dance floor when he comes across Simon, not his real name, a human who has been masquerading as The Doctor for two years. Not feeling quite himself just yet, the Doctor decides to take the time to see where this mess is headed. After a trip to UNIT with the fake, he learns that the man not only has a touch of Time Lord energy, just like The Doctor has a touch of mascara, but there's something familiar about him.
Also, his new body has a few kinks to work out, and energy to burn...
Simon only ever took up The Doctor's mantle in the hopes of meeting... not him. He wanted to meet the previous version, and finds this one to be a disappointment. But after two years of work, making a comfortable new life for himself in this London, as a beloved figure in this universe, what is he supposed to do now? Go home? To what? To where? As who? A Swedish exchange student, sitting at home on his couch with his cat? Moving once was hard enough, and Simon hates travel.
This story takes place more than 2 years after the events of Doctor Who episode 319b The Reality War.

“Never?” Simon asks, butting right into Wille and Walter's conversation.
Wille meets Simon's eyes over his glass, flickering mischievously as he smiles over the rim and takes a long drink. Great, now Simon's watching his throat, the way it moves when he swallows, the way his jaw bone clenches and relaxes.
“Nope.” He pops the ‘p’ and gives Simon a shrug.
Walter says something that Simon doesn't hear. He's too busy thinking about teaching Wille all sorts of dirty, dirty things.
