Summary
A routine shift at the 118 takes an unexpected turn when a new firefighter walks through the door.
Ryan Buckley is thirty-three, a seasoned firefighter from Miami, and the last person Evan “Buck” Buckley expects to discover he’s related to.
Neither of them knew the other existed. But one shared surname and a few unexpected questions are enough to uncover a connection that has been missing for decades.
As Ryan and his son, Ronan, settle into life in Los Angeles, old family ties resurface, long-lost relatives find their way back to one another, and the 118 discovers that the Buckley family might be considerably bigger—and more complicated—than anyone imagined.
Between firefighting, family reunions, a teenager who always has somewhere to be, and a love story that has already skipped half the usual steps, life at the 118 is about to get a little more crowded.
And possibly a lot louder.

Summary
Harry is seven years old the first time it happens.
One moment Dudley’s screaming at him and shoving him into the kitchen table, and he’s angry, so angry—
—and the next petunia’s staring at him in abject horror because his hair wasn’t black anymore.
It was a deep, flaming red.

Summary
Buck hated hospitals. It made him think of his first date with Abby, of the truck bombing, of the embolism, of the tsunami. Just, a lot of bad memories, is all.
Which is why he had wanted to tell everyone so quickly. Just so he didn’t have to go to this appointment on his own. Last week he had gone alone, thinking it would be just another check up and then his doctor had looked at him with pity in his eyes and told him they’d found abnormalities in his blood work and they needed him to stop taking his blood thinners and come back in a week.
His doctor had been simultaneously vague and clear when he told him what they would be looking for. Listing all the possible reasons that his blood cell counts were off. But on that list was cancer and Buck knew that with his fucking luck, it would be that. The look on his doctor’s face made him think that he thought so too.
or
Buck had meant to tell everyone, he had, really. But they were angry with him and he didn't want them to forgive him just because he might be dying. He needed to fix things first.

Summary
When Tommy opened his front door, he hadn't exactly been expecting to find Evan, fresh off a twenty-four hour shift that ran into five mandatory hours of overtime, staring almost manic at him.
"Everyone thinks you're my rebound." Evan blurted with a gasp like he was already out of breath.
Tommy blinked at him. He wasn't exactly sure where to start to unpack all of that.
An old friend comes to Buck's rescue in the middle of a public break up. What could possibly go wrong?

Summary
Evan Buckley knew he'd been shot, and that was a problem. Unfortunately, that wasn't his biggest problem currently. It turned out his biggest problem was that the last he remembered he'd been shot in Kandahar Province, and it was 2015. However, he was currently still freaking shot but was in a hospital room in Los Angeles where a room full of strangers were telling him it was 2021.
Well...a room of strangers, plus his sister whom he hadn't seen in years and who was visibly pregnant, and a man he'd seen not that long ago actually who shocking seemed to have no idea why Evan would recognize him out of all the rest of the firefighters around his hospital bed. Damn, but Medic McSteamy aged well over the past six years. Also, who the hell was 'Buck,' and why did people keep insisting on calling him that?!
