Summary
“I’m pregnant.”
Shane looked expectingly at Ilya, waiting for him to answer. Ilya suddenly felt as if his brain had frozen. Shane was pregnant? No, that couldn’t have been. That made no sense. Ilya must have heard wrong. It must have been an English word he didn’t know that just sounded like pregnant.
“Sorry, I do not know that word in English.”
“Oh. Eh… I— I’m pregnant. I’m having a baby.”
or; after months of being ignored by Shane, Ilya slowly falls into a pit of despair and self destruction. When Shane finally calls, Ilya can’t help but pick up the phone. It changes everything.

Summary
“Blooming, thank you, Professor Karkaroff,” Dumbledore replies, but whatever else is said is lost on Shane's ears as right then, Shane makes eye contact with Durmstrang's second-in-commend.
Ilya fucking Rozanov stares back at him.
And
winks.
The girl in front of Shane squeals like it had been directed to her, but Shane knows Rozanov too well from the one time they'd played each other in the 17-and-unders. Or rather, Shane knows him as the chaser that kept Team Canada from winning the junior league last year.
Ilya fucking Rozanov only winks at people he wants to piss off.
Shane is so, so fucked.
Or: Durmstrang student Ilya and Slytherin Head Boy Shane commiserate about the lack of Quidditch, and maybe even solve the mystery surrounding their strange new DADA professor. (And possibly fall in love, if Harry Potter would stop accusing Shane of being an evil Slytherin.)

Summary
“He found himself wondering if anyone would notice before the spell was up. It seemed unlikely; there were often stretches where contact was limited between him and his family. Normally, it was not born from necessity but rather strife. And perhaps strife would bleed from this.
He hoped not.”
When a confrontation with a powerful magic user goes awry, Damian is cursed, robbing him of his voice. Or, communicate without a fresh bruise appearing, that is.
What begins as an inconvenience quickly spirals into something far worse, as he finds himself struggling with the mounting realization: no one has noticed. As his silence deepens, so do the rifts with his family. He’s not helped by the many more sinister theories the people around him assume because of his new temperament.
One thing is certain: he really, really hates magic.
