“I guess.” Hajime furrowed his brows. “Cogito ergo sum.”
“Yes, cogito ergo sum.” Nagito echoed, “It’s a philosophical concept he reached by locking himself up in a room away from all distractions from society. Traditions, customs, obscurantism. His goal was to start from zero. Rebuild his whole philosophy from what he knew to be real. That’s where his first conclusion came from. I think therefore I am.”
“So... you’re changing your philosophy, then? What’s your new take on hope and despair?”
“I don’t know, Hinata-kun...” Nagito smothered himself with his own pillow. “So far, I’ve just been sleeping.”
After the Neo World Program, Nagito Komaeda pretends to be a philosopher by drowning in guilt and painkillers and locking himself up in a room until he figures out how he can make everyone forget about his miserable existence. Unfortunately for him, Hajime Hinata doesn't mind playing philosopher with him and clearly plans on doing something about his state.

“Hmmm,” Eito hums again, seeming puzzled. “What do you think these holes are, Takumi?”
That brings Takumi back to reality, and the panic rises again with Eito’s hands so close to his neck. “Well, uh,” he starts, and his mouth feels unbearably dry, “it’s where we stab our Infusers, right? And it’s right over our hearts… so maybe it represents our hemoanima?”
“Interesting hypothesis, Takumi. I’m impressed that someone with an amoeba for a brain like yourself is capable of such thought,” Eito says. He sets the tailor’s tape aside and writes down another number. “Would you like to hear my theory?”
“Not really, but I suppose I’ll hear it anyways,” Takumi says, irritated.
