Summary
There existed, and James catalogued this observation with the same precision he applied to all things, a possibility. That he might, conceivably, under certain highly specific and deeply irritating circumstances, find himself attracted to a man.
Which was absurd, naturally.
He liked women.
But Sherlock Holmes was, annoyingly, something else entirely.

Summary
"Because I recognize the symptoms." Benjy’s anger evaporates, replaced by a hollow sense of kinship that he hates. "I’ve spent years pining after Remus Lupin. I know exactly what it looks like to want something that is never, ever going to be yours. I know that particular flavor of misery intimately."
Benjy Fenwick is done with being a background character. He's done with Sirius Black treating him like a pet, and he’s especially done with the hollow ache of watching Remus walk away with someone else for the hundredth time.
He went out for some goddamn air. Instead, he found Regulus Black. Turns out, Regulus has been playing the same losing game. He’s spent his life being a replacement son and his night trying to kiss a boy who only has eyes for his brother.
Following a Black into an abandoned classroom is objectively a terrible idea. Benjy knows it. But Regulus is looking at him with a raw, terrified hunger, and Benjy has never been very good at walking away.
Featuring: one deeply repressed Black heir having what could generously be called a sexuality crisis
"The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it." — Oscar Wilde
