Summary
Truthless was immortal in a different way. And his seems so much more interesting and appealing than Sage's dependence on a magical little rock. Honestly! Truthless really did have it lucky; who wouldn't want to be able to both live and learn forever? Sure it had a few downsides to it, but they were manageable ones.
"Oh don't give me that Vanilla, we both know that you do that. Given your strange moral objection to properly feeding yourself."
For using the others old name Sage got a particularly rough smack to the back of his head

the sage of truth decides to take a trip to faeriewood and drags the truthless recluse along for the ride. they travel through the ghost-yeast forest, face some dangers, nearly die, and uncover some feelings about one another underneath all that, all before finally arriving in faeriewood to spend a few nights and discover some more things. the sage of truth has a glaring question on his mind: what happened in crispia, and how is the recluse involved?

The lecture hall shimmered with midafternoon light, slanting in through tall arched windows and casting dust motes in slow spirals through the air. Shelves of ancient books stood as quiet witnesses, surrounding the space like a cathedral of knowledge. Blueberry Milk stood before his class, every movement deliberate, theatrical—each word a flourish.
He was in his element.
“Truth,” he announced, pausing mid-step, “isn’t always what we want it to be. No, no, it’s far more insidious, far more clever than that.” His monocle glinted as he turned, finger raised like a conductor cueing a crescendo. “It hides in perspectives, tucks itself between questions we’re too afraid to ask. And sometimes—yes, sometimes—it dares us to change.”
OR an alternate universe where soulmates exist and Blueberry Milk (the Sage of Truth) and Truthless Recluse are fated.
