After Sirius falls through the veil, Harry realizes he has a choice: die as the Chosen One or live as himself. He chooses himself.
Armed with self-taught Apparition and a photograph torn from a muggle magazine, Harry disappears to Egypt. He trades his wand for anonymity, his galleons for a flat in Cairo, and his destiny for the simple freedom of surviving one more day.
When Dumbledore sends Snape to drag him back, Harry refuses. And slowly, against all odds, he convinces Snape that they both deserve to live too.

Harry blinked at the man in confusion. “You’ve tried monster before?”
“Of course,” Snape scoffed. “Almost all Hogwarts students have at some stage, it’s why it had to be added to the sex education talk.”

Summary
Daniel has loved Halloween ever since having a daughter. He loved dressing her up when she was a baby. How wouldn’t love a little baby girl dressed up as a pumpkin? It was a classic! But she was older now, and Sam had started deciding on her costumes for herself. Daniel was fine with that. She still looked absolutely adorable all dressed up and ready to go trick-or-treating. Daniel expected this year to go just as well as the previous years. After all, what could possibly go wrong?
