Armand has long been haunted by the ghost of his maker- a voice in the back of his head that never really vanished even after so many centuries. When Armand himself creates a fledgling by turning Daniel, he does the only thing he can think of to avoid creating such a bond.
He leaves.
Now truly alone for the first time, he sets off across the world to chase the ghosts of his past, and perhaps, the ones of his future as well.A prequel/companion fic to (Don't Fear) The Reaper, but can be read as a standalone. An exploration of grief, guilt, and what it means to truly love.
