Summary
Once upon a time, Lucifer was minding his own goddamn business, living a perfectly normal life – one that he was very happy with, thank you very much.
That perfectly normal life – that he was very happy with – was abruptly turned on its head by the arrival of a mysterious fae, calling himself ‘Alastor’.
It turns out that normal life gets a lot harder to manage when you’ve got an almost mythical creature following you around, insisting he’s ‘helping.’ Lucifer isn’t sure how almost getting him arrested is meant to be any kind of help at all – but he has to admit, there is something about this man. Fae. Creature? Something about Alastor.
Something that seems to draw him in, an elusive sense of belonging that he’s never really had. The question is – can he prevent himself from throttling Alastor long enough to figure out what it is?

Charlie, on the other side of the roof – a distance so short but so impossibly far away – held by the throat, suspended in mid air by the First Man. Her hooves kicked wildly, her claws scraped at his fingers. He could hear her choked, fearful gasp as he squeezed tighter, cutting off her airways.
Charlie.
Charlie.
Alastor acts before he thinks.

Summary
There was the sound of a laugh track, something you’d hear on game shows.
“This isn’t funny,” Vaggie replied hotly.
“On the contrary, my dear,” Alastor spread his arms out. “If you can’t see the humour in being lectured on the sanctity of life by the person who organised a genocide then I don’t think you’ve understood the hilarious hypocrisy being displayed just behind that wall!”
“Is it really necessary to antagonise her?” Vaggie shook her head, pausing to look through the curtain again as the hallway bickering continued.
“Necessary? Hardly, Enjoyable? Extremely!”
In the grand scheme of the universe, Adeline had lived an unremarkable life. It doesn't appear that the same could be said for her son.

Summary
"Carraway." There came a brief pause as Jay Gatsby's eyes raked over my face, inspecting my jawline and cheekbones with a critical air. Comparing. I felt more naked than ever before in my life, a part of me convinced that he would notice something amiss through my flannel suit. Naturally, he only asked, "Any relation to Daisy Fay? I heard mention of that name from her a time or two."
