Jason tugged the towel off his head, draping it around his shoulders and trying not to feel silly. It would have probably been easier if the redhead wasn't a solid 6 feet with biceps like freckled marble. Biceps that were fully on display in a raggedy t-shirt with the sleeves and half the torso cut out. Jason knew he wasn't ugly, but damn he felt like an awkward brute by comparison. "Roy. Right. Um, what can I do for you?"
The man held up a measuring cup, biting his lip. He must have been doing that a lot, because they looked slightly swollen. Full and pink. "Wondered if I could borrow a cup or two of sugar? I know it's late, and I would just go to the store, but my daughter's asleep and just told me about her school bake sale like an hour ago."

Technoblade was happily retired, or at least that was what he told himself. Once one of the greatest Formula One drivers to ever exist, he now lived a mundane life, under a new identity, while trying to distance himself as far from his history as possible.
Then Philza appeared with a proposal he couldn't find it himself to refuse, and now Techno was thrown back into the world he had no intention of returning to. Then Tommy happened, and now Techno had to juggle between mentoring a child whose present mirrored his past, dealing with his own trauma, and proving to the world that he was (still) deserving of the champion title.
Would Techno be able to drive his way back to the top of the world? Or would he drown in the past he's trying to run from?

She thinks it’s a joke at first when she finds out that Joel’s a patroller, too. She’s a veteran, so it was a simple thing for her to be assigned to the work as well, but the idea of gentle, loving Joel with a gun in hand, fighting and killing, is almost laughably absurd.
She doesn’t know how anyone could look at the man who spends hours on the porch with his daughter patiently teaching her guitar and think “yes, he’s good in a fight.” She doesn’t know how anyone could look at the man who regularly scoops up his fussy nephew and soothes him with an experienced parent’s deftness and think “yes, he’ll absolutely kill without hesitation.” She doesn’t know how anyone could look at the man who lets his teenager manhandle him to steal his food right off his plate because it makes her laugh and think “yes, he’s ruthless enough to take out a threat.”
She doesn’t know how anyone could look at Joel Miller and think he’d be a good patroller, and day by day, she worries about it more and more.
