You expected the expedition to be like the rest, go to the continent and kill the paintress, but it was far from that. When someone from expedition 35 actually makes it back to the city rambling about white haired people who couldn't die it turns everything upside-down.
Now expedition 34's main mission wasn't to kill the paintress, it was to find one of these white haired people and bring them back to Lumiere…under any means necessary.
