“Anyway, my point is - this?” He gestured to the shedding around them. “It’s just hair. I know you might feel like it’s losing a part of you, but I think I might be a little offended for you if you really think any of you could be whittled down to something so…” he shook his head as he searched for the right word. Nothing seemed to fit quite right; how could he explain that she was so incandescent, so larger of life to him that the idea of her being defined by any one thing felt vehemently wrong to him?
“Simple.” He settled for.
She pursed her lips, and he felt like maybe that was the wrong thing to say.
“Not that - I know this isn’t a simple thing you’re upset about. I just… Maker’s breath.” he looked away from her again, huffing at his own blundering. “You’re a great deal more than your hair, Elizabeth.”
