    “What would you do if you could have him back?” Nie Huaisang asked him, a bit too seriously as he leaned forward.

    “There is no way for a dead cultivator to return,” Jiang Cheng scoffed, not even willing to entertain the thought.

    “Perhaps, perhaps not,” Nie Huaisang shrugged, “Even if he came back, that wouldn’t do much to help, would it? Your sister is still gone. His reputation still damaged.”

    “Stop speaking in riddles,” Jiang Wanyin growled, “What did you come here for, Nie Huaisang?”

    “I asked you what you would do for your brother back,” Nie Huaisang started, “I would do anything to have mine back, Jiang Wanyin. And I’m here to offer you that same choice. Because our brothers’ deaths never should have happened. They happened because of schemes and plots. They happened because of lies and deception. Your brother was made to be a villain and was led to his death because he was too powerful. Mine was murdered because he stood in the way of Jin Guangshan.”

    There's nothing Jiang Cheng wouldn't do to have his siblings back. And when Nie Huaisang comes to him with a proposal to save them by changing everything, he doesn't even hesitate to agree.

    "A-Xian!" he heard a voice call from a distance. It sounded very familiar and triggered a feeling of security in him. The sun tickled his nose and he screwed up his face. He opened his eyes and was still in Lotus Pier, where he had fallen asleep. He was still a child. A young Yanli and a young Jiang Cheng were with him, laughing and chatting. It was now the third day that he experienced like this and everything was continuously taking its course. Slowly it became clear to him... this could not be a memory or a dream. Either he was dead and his life just passed his eyes in real time or he had been transferred back to his child self!
    For the second time in his existence, something had happened to him that he had never expected. Amused, he wondered if he could now call this his second reincarnation.
    He stared at the cloudless sky and suddenly realized the magnitude of this event. He felt his heartbeat quicken and his breathing become heavy. His throat tightened and his eyes began to burn. He had been given a chance. A chance to change everything. And he would take it or die trying!
    ... And he would snatch Lan Zhan much sooner!

    In order to appease the Wen, Yu Ziyuan cuts off Wei Wuxian's hand - in order to keep the supervisory office out of Lotus Pier, she hands him over to the Wen as a prisoner. In a desperate attempt to save his brother, Jiang Cheng teams up with Lan Wangji to plot a rescue - but what they don't realise is that whether they succeed or fail, their worlds will never be the same again.

    An eventual fix-it featuring most of the cast, a lot of hurt/comfort, and a promised happy ending!

    A MDZS/Valdemar crossover for the April 2026 challenge (unlikely pairings)

    A white horse walks into the Burial Mounds and calls Wei Wuxian Chosen. He tells her she’s made a mistake. She says Companions don’t make mistakes.

    When the Sects finally come for his head, this horse-yao offers him a way to save himself and the Wen refugees. It just requires leaving everything he knows and everyone else he loves behind.

    Wei Wuxian has never been very good at taking the easy path. He's far better at attempting the impossible. Admittedly, with mixed results.

    ……

    Sometimes it feels like Vanyel is fighting this whole damned war alone. He’s holding the borders together with power that is slowly burning him out. The war is never ending. His control is slipping. And there's no one else who can do what he does…

    …until a newly Chosen trainee is dropped on him by a Companion that went further afield than any others dared. He is nothing like what Valdemar expects a Herald to be—foreign, sharp-tongued, and wielding a power that rivals Vanyel’s own. But he might be exactly what Valdemar needs. What Vanyel needs—if he doesn’t strangle him first.

    Beautiful Crossover from MDZS and Valdemar Series. Thanks to good notes for both fandoms from the writer you can enjoy that even if you know only one of the fandoms, or none 😉.

    My preview from MDZS side:
    What if … a mysterious white horse arrives at the Burial Mounds and can communicate telepathically with WWX, urging him and the Wens to follow the horse to another country for safety, and to help the people in the other land, too?
    WWX thinks that this must be a Yao with crafty tricks- or not?

    From the Valdemar side:
    As the number of Herald mages dwindle, one searching Companion finds a possible new mage in a strange land. Even if he and some fifty persons he saved from
    M a concentration camp live on a horrid old graveyard amidst evil resentful energy, the Companion tries to convince the eventual new Herald Mage to travel to Valdemar, where the Karsite Border Wars challenge Valdemar. Herold Vanyel could really need some help by a new powerful Mage.
