Ash and Gary were both busy, they both knew that the lack of contact wasn't out of malice, that was probably why they worked so well with one another.
This had always been how their friendship had worked. They didn't hear of one another for a few months, but whenever they met up, they got along like nothing had changed, like no time had passed at all. That was their dynamic, and it had easily enough translated over even after they had admitted their feelings towards each other.
Still, that didn't keep Gary from missing Ash whenever he did have time to ponder about how long it had been since they had seen each other in the middle of the night.

Goh slowly looked over Melemeles beach and all of the people currently occupying the benches that had been set up over it.
They had wanted to keep their guest list small, only family and close friends, which had of course failed very badly, because that already included over 30 people.
It almost felt like an out of body experience. It was utterly surreal that he was here, that this was going to happen. Yet at the same time, he couldn't be happier and more excited.
His eyes met his moms, who was sitting next to his dad in the very first row on the left, and she gave him a wobbly smile and a wave.
Goh returned an equally wobbly smile, and nodded a few times, probably way too enthusiastically, but he didn't really care.
