Summary
To Buck the lunchtime conversation about his supposed lack of enlistment in the Navy came completely out of left field. He knew that his fire family couldn't compute that he was a SEAL. Eddie's reaction, though, took him by surprise.
That conversation, however, had ripped the rose-coloured glasses right off his face and forced him to take a long, hard look at his relationships with his teammates.
It was an eye-opener.

Summary
Buck was just doing his best to focus on his work and not think about the shitty dinner with his parents, Maddie, Chim, and Albert. He was doing good at distracting his mind ... until he parents walked into the station. Forcing him into a conversation he didn't want to have. And he is just so ... so very done with them. He wasn't a little kid anymore.
It's really their own fault for saying so many horrible things about and to him around his chosen family.

Three months after the lawsuit, the team was still angry with Buck and it didn't look like that would change any time soon, if at all.
He'd hoped that by keeping his head down, his compliance and perseverance would eventually soothe the team's hurt feelings. But nothing had changed and it became harder and harder to keep on fighting.
'It took too much energy just getting out of bed and dragging himself to the station every shift. The cold shoulders, the snide remarks, the hateful pranks. It had been a fight just getting through the day and keeping himself together. Maybe if he'd been able to see Christopher...
But he was so tired now, so tired.'
It was just an ordinary Saturday when the last straw broke the camel's back.

Summary
The first time she told that tale to the 118, he'd been too confused to say anything, and afterwards, he'd simply not wanted to rock the boat. He'd been too scared of her abandoning him again, and knowing that he deserved better didn't help that fear. Today though, he was too annoyed and resentful and really fucking angry to care.
