“Alright then. I’m Shou,” he says, introducing himself more properly this time. “I’m an esper, like you, the first in existence to be forcibly awoken by Claw’s crazy torture machines. They kidnap kids with potential latent psychic powers and break them, over and over, until either their powers emerge or they die. It doesn’t matter either way to them.” His expression hardens as he speaks, clear distaste and outright malice evident in his tone. “I could really use your help here, you know. A partner of sorts, someone to watch my back. What do you say?"
Ritsu hesitates. He isn’t a fighter by any means, and the psychic powers now churning beneath his skin are still very new and frightening. It’s all very overwhelming, but Ritsu can’t help but feel a sort of sickening hope at Shou’s promise for revenge. It did have a sort of dark draw to it.
In which Claw is a lot worse than they seem and Shigeo isn't able to find his brother after he's kidnapped.

Staring at Shou’s nape as his hair so short it barely reacted to the wind blowing through it, the sun making the color of his hair pop even more than it already did. Ritsu always had goals or plans for his life, finishing school, getting into a good college, living life like a normal samaritan, but once he met Suzuki Shou it all changed. He never truly realized how Shou lit up his life until he left.
“How come you never visit me?” Ritsu asked. Breaking the silence was mostly Shou’s thing but his curiosity was suffocating, “I’m only an hour away for you.”
Shou stared straight ahead, “Dunno, I guess I didn’t wanna bother your ‘big brain’ life.” He said jokingly, it was true though. Even though he missed Ritsu so much it hurt, he’d feel like a burden to Ritsu trying to live a normal life. He hoped his tone of voice didn’t reveal too much of that.
Ritsu was his anchor, stopping him from flying away into the endless void.
