Sasuke and Naruto are both so satisfied with their lives; the choices they made, the beautiful wives waiting for them in their beds, the children they raised with care and attention! ♡
And really, how could they not be? This is what a happy ending looks like, right? ♡
It's not like Sasuke climbs into Naruto's hotel room after his diplomatic meetings as Hokage, so that they can fuck each other senseless and wonder why the hell it turned out like this, right? ♡

Summary
Konoha; the idyllic place where nobody even had the fucking strength of character to talk about Itachi and his sacrifice, and Sasuke's supposed to... what?
Chill out and start over? Break bread with the people who made his brother live as a murderous criminal for most of his life? Start a family?
Even if that's what Itachi himself wanted; it's too bad. Itachi was wrong before and he's wrong now too, looking down on him from wherever he was...
Fuck. And it hurts. More than hurts; it aches and makes him want to do something, anything to hurt them.
So he will.
Leave the martyrdom to Naruto and the rest; Sasuke's job is to never forget.
But sometimes, things aren't so easy.

Summary
Kakashi just can't stand the way things fell into place after Minato-sensei died. For all that the 4th Hokage was a ninja genius, he really was too sweet; filled with optimistic delusions of solidarity in Konoha. Yeah, right.
Naruto is taken in as a ward of the state; cared for by people who loathe him and fear him in equal parts for something that he did not choose. He won't stand a damn chance in the system, but Kakashi's still only 14 now - just an orphaned kid himself. Still, he's going to do whatever it takes to get Naruto into his care; even if it means working for that fucking creep Danzou.
And though they are few and far between, there are people who agree with him. Gai, as always, is his trusted friend, his rock. His kouhai, Yamato and Itachi, have both been through far too much, but are sweet and peaceful and don't begrudge Naruto his fate in life.
And there is Iruka; who should hate Naruto, by all means, but when his own friend Mizuki starts deriding Naruto, stands up for him... Speaks about the Will of Fire; and how Naruto is a person who should only be judged for his own character.
Kakashi prays that they have a chance.
