Now Sanemi was really pissed off. One moment, he was the laughingstock of all his fellow Hashira. Now this ice-faced pretty boy comes marching in out of nowhere and everyone is cooing over him like a freshly hatched baby bird? What gives? What the hell was going on?
“He’s the new Hashira, idiot.” Obanai answered. “And you’re talking out loud. You’ll scare the ‘baby bird.’”
Giyuu looked like he wanted to disappear into the ground.
The Hashira – eight of the most intelligent, hardworking, and distinguished students that made up the student council. On a technicality, Giyuu is now supposed to be one of them. He doesn’t feel very deserving of the title, but at least everyone has been kind and welcoming. Well, almost everyone.
Sanemi excelled at school and he was damn proud of it. Being the only support system in a house with an absentee father and too many siblings, it was a miracle that Sanemi could pass his classes let alone score high enough to be a Hashira. Everyone on the student council was nothing short of exceptional. Well, almost everyone.

Something sharp and hot jolted in Obanai's chest. His pulse stumbled, then raced, as though his own body had turned traitor.
What the hell—?
The sunlight slipped over Giyuu's hair, casting shadows across his cheek. For a moment, Obanai's breath caught. He dropped his gaze instantly, jaw tight, pretending it hadn't happened. Kaburamaru hissed softly, tongue flicking against his jaw.
