Summary
Kala had never felt quite...right, like she didn't belong. The feeling had been there since she was born, but it wasn't until the age of three or four when she mentioned it to her mother that she realized it wasn't normal.
The feeling got worse and worse as she aged until she was twenty-one and wondering why she bothered continuing on.
Then, before she knew what hit her, she was whisked into a world she thought to be fantasy, destined to go along on a suicidal quest in the attempt to change the fate of not only the ones she grew to love, but all of Middle Earth.

And if only he can figure out how to make sure Zuko likes her without revealing the whole, you know. Fire Lord thing.

“Have you decided on a name?” Uncle says one day.
He furrows his brows and takes a moment to process the question. “I shouldn’t.”
“And why not Prince Zuko?”
“Her real family should name her.” Zuko says after a few moments. “Whoever they will be.”
Uncle looks at him with something Zuko can’t decipher. “You saved her, did you not? Both her life and her future. If anyone deserves that honor nephew, it is you.”
When Zuko encounters Aang and Katara in the Ba Sing Se catacombs, he makes a vastly different choice. What they don’t realize however, is that he's not just fighting for himself anymore.

Summary
Hakoda looks over at the fire nation military plans scattered across his table, turning to watch the prince of said nation sitting calmly in the chair across from him. He asks the only other question that he needs to know.
"Why?"
Zuko takes in a soft breath as he contemplates his words. In truth, he's been contemplating how to answer this question ever since he decided to turn his back on the only home he's ever known.
"Because my father is-.. a bad person. But I... am not."
It's taken Zuko a long time to be able to say those words and actually believe them.
