Alex feels his face getting a little hot, because oh fuck what if he knows. He mentally shakes himself out of that ridiculous thought spiral before it even starts, and manages a very calm “hey, nice to meet you!” He even extends his hand out for a handshake like a normal person. “I’m Alex.”
“Henry,” Pretty Guy responds, “pleasure.”

Because, no. No way. Nobody has any right to look as good as that Greek statue of a man does in a fucking cardigan. Alex makes a sound that’s halfway between a squeak and like he just choked on his own spit.
“Ask that a little louder, Nino, the people in Australia didn’t hear you.” Ritz mutters, either amused by his suffering or just not impressed by it. “Yes, that’s Henry. Can I go say hi or are you gonna be weird about it?”
Or: a hyperlexic teenager, her godfather, and a librarian walk into a bookstore.

He hears a sigh, and it pisses him off that he doesn’t even have to look at Henry to know the look on his face. There’s a lot that pisses him off, recently. “I understand perfectly,” Henry says, “only… I was hoping we could talk.”

Henry didn’t do a lot of sports events. He much preferred being on the streets, responding to emergencies as they came in. But truthfully, spending a few hours watching baseball and only possibly being needed wasn’t a bad way to spend a shift. Besides, there was something to be said for watching men in alarmingly tight pants.
“Hey, quit staring at their asses and come with me to the concession stand,” his partner teased as she nudged him, and he huffed, though he kept his eyes on the game.
“At least one of us has to stay here, Tammy,” he pointed out. “How would it look if there was a medical emergency and both of the paramedics on call were off buying hot dogs and nachos?”
“Oh please, what’s gonna happen? The bat breaks and the batter gets a splinter?” she scoffed.
It happened so fast that Henry nearly missed it. One moment the man up to bat, a man so beautiful he took Henry’s breath away, was standing upright, the next he was on his back at the plate, starfished out and quite obviously unconscious.
“You just had to say something,” Henry muttered darkly as he grabbed a pair of gloves and began to jog over, hearing Tammy grumble a curse as she followed him.

A sidelong glance gives Henry away, because he may be sitting upright, the picture of well-mannered stillness, but there's a slight upward curl to the corner of his mouth, the kind he'd get when they were tasked with sitting through Christmas service as children. Philip lets a small huff of a laugh escape and carefully nudges back.
