Summary
Reaching for a candy bar, Eddie’s hand closed around something warm and wiry. Looking over slowly, all eight eyes of the spider met his gaze. Eddie screamed and threw the spider out the open passenger side window.
“No, no, fuck no!” Eddie rolled up the windows as though it might try to climb back in.
Taking a few deep breaths, Eddie met his own eyes in the rearview mirror.
“IT is dead and if IT wasn’t it would do a lot fucking worse than torment me with an immortal spider. It’s… it’s just trauma or something.”
The spider leapt out of his backseat roughly six hours later and he nearly caused a four car pile up with his swerving. Eventually he managed to trap it in an empty soda cup in a move that included spilling gummy worms across the seats and holding the wheel steady with his knee to free up his hand.
“I swear to god if you come out of that cup, I’ll throw you out of the car again. I don’t give a fuck if it’s littering. I’ll pay the fine.”
Eddie Kaspbrak wakes up in the collapsing sewers by himself, not nearly as dead as the other Losers thought him to be, not happy to find himself left behind, and not quite alone either. OR Eddie Kaspbrak and the spider that just won’t die.

Summary
It only takes three rings for Richie to pick up the phone. This is pretty standard for Richie. He’d told Eddie once that the first time his phone rings, he usually has to find it somewhere in the room. The second time it rings is when Richie sees the Caller ID, and if he picks up on the third ring, that means Richie likes whoever is at the other end. He’d found that infuriating when Richie first told him, and vividly remembers how he’d bitched about missing important opportunities if he was answering phone calls based on his mood. Right now, however, knowing that Richie is answering the phone because he wants to talk to Eddie brings nothing but total relief.

Maybe, he thinks while Eddie quickly apologizes, trying fruitlessly to save him from heartbreak, this is the price to pay.Eddie moves to California with Richie, but while Richie believes this is the first step of their new life together as a couple, Eddie only sees him as a friend.

Richie looks at Eddie with this little grin. “Have you ever done something romantic? Something spontaneous? Impulsive? Passionate? Like, ever? In your life?”
Eddie feels an unpleasant twinge in his ribs. It’s not a great sign when your roomie/best friend/receptacle for an increasingly discomforting gay awakening thinks you’re the antithesis of love.
It’s an even worse sign when you can’t think of any evidence to the contrary.
